Tentative Solution with m=0 | Google's Blogger is not registered in the search index

For a long time, articles on Google’s blog platform, Blogger, have not been indexed by Google’s search engine.

Upon checking the URL of an article not indexed in Google Search Console, it indicates a “redirect error.”

This issue has been occurring since Google changed its search user agent to “Googlebot for Smartphones.”

Because Blogger adds “?m=1” to the end of the URL when displayed on smartphones, the original URL is considered a “redirect.”

As a solution to this problem, it was recommended to register the URL with “?m=1” appended at the end.

However, after Google unified its search user agent to “Googlebot for Smartphones,” neither the original URL nor the URL with “?m=1” were indexed.

I tried to find a good solution to this problem, but I found many reports stating that even if “?m=1” is added, the URL is no longer indexed.

This means that articles on Google’s blog platform, Blogger, are not appearing in Google search results.

I thought that Google would eventually solve the problem, but even after many months, the articles have not been indexed. So I gave up completely.

The other day, I was looking at Google Search Console and found a URL with “?m=0” added to the “alternate page (with appropriate canonical tags).”

I thought that if “?m=1” is for the smartphone display, “?m=0” must be for the PC display.

Actually, accessing the site using the URL with “?m=0” displays the PC screen even on a smartphone.

It makes sense to interpret “m=1” as “mobile=on" and “m=0” as “mobile=off,” but this is just my imagination.

So I tried registering the URL with “?m=0” in the index as a trial.

A few hours later, “URL is registered with Google” was displayed, and the “Page Index Registration” showed “Registered.”

No redirect errors occurred, and the “canonical URL specified by the user” is a URL without “?m=0.”

However, checking the original URL without “?m=0,” the result is that “URL is not registered with Google.” What is registered in the index is only the URL with “?m=0.”

Searching with “keyword site:url” on Google, it is not necessary to append “?m=0” to the URL, but the URL with “?m=0” is displayed in the search results.

Even searching with a mobile phone, the screen for PCs is displayed due to “?m=0.”

Anyway It seems that the problem of Blogger articles not being indexed at all has been resolved.

I decided to wait and see for a while, hoping that the original URL without “m=0” will be indexed.

I will keep updating this article.

Please note that this page is also indexed with "m=0".

Additional Note

  • On September 27, url without “?m=0” or “?m=1”  was registered in Google index.
